“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…. Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light…. Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for festivals and for days and years. They will be lights in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth.’ And it was so. God made the two great lights—the greater light to have dominion over the day and the lesser light to have dominion over the night—as well as the stars. God placed them in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth, to dominate the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:1,3,14-18 CSB)
In our recent article about the expansion of the universe, we showed how some basic scientific facts about the universe point to the existence of God. Today, we will examine even more scientific concepts about the universe and see how they relate to the Creator.
Existence of Elements Essential for Life
When two helium nuclei collide, they fuse together and produce the fleeting, unstable beryllium. An additional collision with a single helium nucleus, and carbon is created.
“For the Lord is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. ‘I am the Lord,’ he says, ‘and there is no other.'” (Isaiah 45:18 NLT)
An article in USA Today entitled “Signal received from far reaches of early universe” reports:
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
For the first time, astronomers have detected a signal from stars emerging in the early universe some 14 billion years ago.
They may also have detected mysterious “dark matter” at work.
Using a radio antenna not much bigger than a refrigerator, astronomers discovered that primordial suns began to shine about 180 million years after the Big Bang, when the universe was created.
Let’s take a look at an article published on December 13, 2017 entitled “Evolution intervened on ‘monster’ penguins” in USA Today:
“Talk about your big bird. Scientists on Tuesday announced the discovery of a new species of an ancient giant penguin, one that was nearly 6 feet tall and weighed about 220 pounds, roughly the same height and size as an average man.
Fossilized remains of the extinct penguin were discovered in the Otago region on New Zealand’s South Island. The new species is named Kumimanu biceae: In the Maori language of New Zealand, Kumi means “monster,” and manu is the word for “bird.”
Less than 100 years ago, science discovered that the universe is expanding. However, the men who wrote the Bible spoke of this concept when it was written almost 3,000 years ago. But many people believe the Bible and science contradict one another. Is this really so? Let’s examine some basic scientific concepts about the universe and see how they compare to what the Bible says.
First Law of Thermodynamics – E = mc2
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither created nor destroyed. Matter and energy are interchangeable (E=mc2).
“Fossil sheds light on ‘Jurassic Park’ dinosaurs” is the title of an article published on May 2, 2017 by BBC News. The article shows how flimsy and precarious the entire theory of macroevolution (Darwinism) is. From a re-examination of one fossil, scientists are coming up with a new species of dinosaur.
Then they admit “these animals were evolving much earlier than the fossil record previously has indicated.” That should be worded “much earlier than our theory indicated.” Actually, they say it’s “five million years” older.
BBC News published an article on April 27, 2017, entitled: “Why fish do not deserve their reputation for forgetfulness.” Let’s examine some quotes from this article:
“This widely-held belief may persist due to… an old-fashioned view of how evolution works.”
“Most of the fish on the planet today evolved around the same time as humans.”
“The fish’s performance… could be compared to that of rats.”
“Fish’s ability to track depth makes them ‘superior to humans’ in this respect.”
An “unknown ancient reptile roamed the Pyrenees mountains” according to a BBC News article published on April 20, 2017.
“The footprints of a mysterious reptile that lived about 250 million years ago have been identified in fossils from the Pyrenees mountains.”
“Footprints” have been found, now an entirely new species has been discovered? And it’s “a member of the group that gave rise to crocodiles and dinosaurs?”
All from “footprints?”
“Real-life zombies that are stranger than fiction” is the title of an article that was published by BBC News on March 13, 2017.
The article states that “some fungi, viruses and bacteria have evolved….”
They start from this position that they had to “evolve.” They could not have been “created.” That is not a possibility.
“Perhaps the most famous fungus, Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, prompts its hosts to end their days perched under a leaf. Those that have succumbed to Ophiocordyceps australis, meanwhile, will die in the forest litter below.”
The oldest croc eggs have been discovered in a dinosaur nest, according to a BBC News article published on March 9, 2017.
The article says “this new discovery from Portugal extends the knowledge of this type of egg by approximately 40 million years.” It goes on the say “the fossil record tells us that crocodiles and their relatives were much more diverse in the past.”
But notice what is also said: “They are remarkably similar to the eggs of modern crocodiles, suggesting crocodile eggs have changed little in shape in the last 150 million years.”
