Who Is Jesus’ God?
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is said to be Almighty God, along with God the Father, and the holy Spirit. However, according to the scriptures Jesus Christ has a God. Who could this be? Who is Jesus’ God?
“You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions”—Hebrews 1:9 ESV
From the above scripture, Jesus’ God has anointed him more anyone else. Who is Jesus Christ’s God?
My God
“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”—Matthew 23:46 ESV
“The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name”—Revelation 3:12 NIV
When Jesus said, “My God,” who was he referring to?
“I have not yet to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God”—John 20:17 NIV
His God
“When he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father”—1 Corinthians 15:24 NAB
When the Bible refers to “his God,” who is it referring to?
“from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen”—Revelation 1:5,6 NIV
“His God” refers to Jesus’ Father.
The God . . . Of Our Lord Jesus Christ
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”—2 Corinthians 1:3,4 NIV
“With one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”—Romans 15:6 NAB
“The God and Father of the Lord Jesus knows, he who is blessed forever”—2 Corinthians 11:31 NAB
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”—Ephesians 1:3 NAB
“The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of glory”—Ephesians 1:17 NAB
Who, Or What, is the God of Jesus?
“I know that you do not have the love of God in you. I came in the name of my Father . . . How can you believe, when you . . . do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?”—John 5:42-44 NAB
“God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”—Colossians 1:3 NAB
The God of Jesus is his Father. The scriptures overwhelmingly support this fact. Anyone with God over them cannot be God himself, so the main pillar of the Trinity doctrine, namely, that the Father, the Son, and the holy Spirit are each equally God, and yet only one God, is proven false on this point alone from the scriptures.

BA: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is said to be Almighty God, along with God the Father, and the holy Spirit. However, according to the scriptures Jesus Christ has a God. Who could this be? Who is Jesus’ God?
GW: Yes, Jesus is not God, but Jesus worshiped a deity named “God”. Jesus often called him “God the Father” or “Father” for short. But God would not have been a parent of Jesus in the traditional meaning of “parent.”
BA: “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions”—Hebrews 1:9 ESV. From the above scripture, Jesus’ God has anointed him more [than] anyone else. Who is Jesus Christ’s God? My God
GW: So, Jesus and God are two different persons.
BA: “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”—Matthew 23:46 ESV
GW: Yes, these are Jesus’ last words, according to the author of Matthew, but the Gospels differ on this point.
BA: “The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name”—Revelation 3:12 NIV
GW: But God does not exist. This has been proven.
BA: When Jesus said, “My God,” who was he referring to?
GW: He was referring to the deity whom he worshiped, called “God” who does not exist.
BA: “I have not yet to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God”—John 20:17 NIV His God
GW: Jesus believes in an afterlife in which he will be with God. He is mistaken on both points.
BA: “When he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father”—1 Corinthians 15:24 NAB
GW: Jesus had no kingdom to hand over.
BA: When the Bible refers to “his God,” who is it referring to? “from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen”—Revelation 1:5,6 NIV “His God” refers to Jesus’ Father. The God . . . Of Our Lord Jesus Christ
GW: This is just false. Jesus was a human person who had a human father and mother, just as we all do. The scriptures overwhelmingly support this fact.
BA: The God of Jesus is his Father.
GW: The deity which Jesus worshiped was God, but God does not exist, and if God did exist, he wouldn’t produce offspring. So, God could not be a father of Jesus.
BA: Anyone with God over them cannot be God himself,…
GW: I agree.
BA: so the main pillar of the Trinity doctrine, namely, that the Father, the Son, and the holy Spirit are each equally God, and yet only one God, is proven false on this point alone from the scriptures.
GW: I agree. One person cannot be three persons at the same time. This would be a contradiction. The best interpretation of the Trinity is that it is a team consisting of three separate persons – Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, with God the Father as the team captain. However, only Jesus existed. And he was just a man, not a deity or a messenger of a deity.
