Does War With Israel Signal the End Is Near?

Does War With Israel Signal the End Is Near?

There is much being made these days by some Christians about the Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran war as being a signal of “the end time” (Jude 18 HCSB). (For more detailed background information on this subject, please take a look at the Category headings: “End of the World,” and “Israel,” on this site.)

However,  the Bible indicates that “old covenant” (2 Corinthians 3:14 with “Israel according to the flesh” (1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV)  was “cancelled” (Ephesians 2:14 NLT), and replaced” (2 Corinthians 3:11 NLT) by his “new covenant” (Hebrews 9:15)  with the Christian “Israel of God” (Galatians 6:15,16 NIV), which has Jesus Christ as its “high priest” and “mediator” (Hebrews 9:11,15). Indeed, according to the scriptures, “the kingdom of God” was “taken away from” fleshly Israel, “and given to a people, producing the fruit of it” (Matthew 21:43 NASB), that is, to Christians in the “new covenant” (2 Corinthians 3:6). read more

Increasingly Frequent Mass Murders – Is the End Near?

Increasingly Frequent Mass Murders – Is the End Near?

New Testament Canon
Are the increasing mass murders a sign the end is near?

Every day there are shocking reports of mass violence and murders in the news. Just when it seems like things can’t get any worse, they do! This same worsening scenario seems to be repeating day after day. Such horrible events are part of the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy:

“Because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold”—Matthew 24:12 NRSV

Does this mean the end is near?

Jesus predicted that: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man,” in that people in general would be going about completely absorbed their daily lives, and totally unaware of “the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:37-39 NIV), until it “will come on them suddenly” (1 Thessalonians 5:3 NIV). read more

Will There Be A Great Revival Before the End?

Will There Be A Great Revival Before the End?

Will there be a great revival or influx of new Christians as we approach the end of the world as we know it?

Great Revival
1839 Methodist camp meeting

Many very devoted and sincere Christians strongly believe there will be, and are fervently praying for a widespread revival in Christianity.

Signs, Sign, & Non-signs, of the End

Signs, Sign, & Non-signs, of the End

Warnings not to be mislead:

  • “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:4-5)
  • “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.” (Luke 21:8)

The Bible says nothing about any ‘signs of the end,’ in contrast to what is popularly believed by people, and taught by preachers. The Bible says not to look for, or expect to know, a time for the end, but rather, be ready at all times. (Matthew 24:42-44; Mark 13:33-35) Jesus condemned ‘sign-seeking’ when he said:

“The only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah”—Matthew 12:39 NLT read more

The Last Days – What Will Be the Sign of Jesus’ Return?

The Last Days – What Will Be the Sign of Jesus’ Return?

What was Jesus’ response to the question at Matthew 24:3: “When will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” (NLT).
What will be the sign? Does the context say anything about “the last days”?

First, “Jesus answered: ‘Watch out that no one deceives you.'” (Matthew 24:4)

Mark recorded: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. ” (Mark 13:5,6)

And in Luke: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” (Luke 21:8,9)

When anyone is preaching that “The time is near,” Jesus said to avoid them, “Do not follow them.”

Jesus said there will be wars, uprisings, disturbances, wickedness, lawlessness, hatred, persecution, loss of love, great earthquakes, famines, pestilences, fearful events, persecution, etc. (Matthew 24:6-12; Mark 13:7,8; Luke 21:9-12). Are these to be something new, or different, or on a greater scale, than the past? Not really. These events are “business as usual” for this world.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.” (Matthew 24:9)

“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Matthew 24:24)
False prophets will have counterfeit signs the , and make false predictions – reject them.

According to the Bible, “the last days” began with the first coming of Jesus back in the first century (Hebrews 1:2 NIV; Acts 2:17).  Paul’s warning in the 60’s of the 1st century about bad people “in the last days” (2 Timothy 3:1 NIV) was current, because he advised,

“Stay away from people like that” (2 Timothy 3:5 NLT).  read more

The Last Days – When?

The Last Days – When?

The last days started with Christ’s first coming. How do we know this?

Acts 2:14-17 – “Peter . . . addressed the crowd . . .  ‘let me explain this to you . . . this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people”‘” (NIV). Peter said the last days had begun then, and quoted Joel’s prophecy to prove it.

1 Timothy 4:1 – “The Spirit says clearly that in the latter times some will abandon and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” (NIV).  That the “latter times” were going on back then, notice what is said in this context,

“If you point this out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus . . . Have nothing to do with godless myths” (1 Timothy 4:6,7 NIV). read more
