IS ASTROLOGY HARMLESS, or DANGEROUS?
Astrology is an ancient pseudo-science which has been proven to be false in every way. The positions and movements of stars and planets have been proven to have no effect on the actions and choices of humans on earth. It was commonly practiced in the ancient world, and appears to have its roots in Babylon. There have been many cuneiform tablets discovered from the area of ancient Babylon, Assyria, and Persia, which contain astrological charts and other astrological references.
Astrology creates the impression that life is fatalistic, or pre-determined, and manipulates people to believe in false predictions. The Bible mentions astrology and astrologers in an unfavorable light.
“This what the LORD [Yahweh] says: ‘Do not act like the other nations, who try to reach their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though the nations are terrified by them. Their ways are futile and foolish”—Jeremiah 10:2,3 NIV
‘Trying to reach their future in the stars’ includes astrology. Most people would like to know the future. That would make decisions easier, failures could be avoided, and successes would be assured, so it seems. However, no one can know the future in man-made charts of God’s stars. The stars are not able to predict anything–only Almighty God knows the future. Astrology is based on untruths, or lies! Don’t trust the stars, trust the Creator of the stars!
“All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you”—Isaiah 47:13 NIV
The people of Babylon sought advice from astrologers and stargazers, but these could not even save themselves. When the Medes, Persians, and their allies unleashed their sneak attack on Babylon on the night of October 4,5, 539 BCE, the Babylonians were caught completely off guard. None of their astrologers and “wise men” had foreseen such a thing, just as Isaiah, above, had accurately predicted 200 years before. Today’s astrological charts and daily advice is just as worthless.
“The king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed . . . The astrologers answered the king, ‘There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks . . . What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans'”—Daniel 2:2,10,11 NIV
Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar flushed out the bluffing nature of the astrologers. They could invent interpretations of dreams, but couldn’t tell the king what he had dreamed. By answering that “the gods . . . do not live among humans,” the astrologers betrayed their concept of the gods. Theirs was a hollow religion, a religion of convience. They believed in the gods, but their belief made no difference in their conduct. Today, many people believe in astrology, but their belief in astrological predictions does not make those predictions come true.
In the Law given to Israel, “divination” was forbidden (Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 18:10-12). “Divination” includes astrology.
“Magic arts” includes astrology. Those who do “not repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality, or their thefts” will be eternally executed by God (Revelation 9:20,21 NIV). Practicing astrology is put into the same category as such evils as “murder”.
“Those who practice magic arts” will be “outside” of “the Holy City, the new Jerusalem”, which means they will not be given eternal life (Revelation 22:15; 21:2 NIV). In fact, “those who practice magic arts . . . will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This means the second death” (Revelation 21:8 NIV). “The second death” is eternal, or final, without any resurrection.
Astrology is not just harmless fun, or entertainment, but is very dangerous, because those who practice it, without repenting of it, will not be given eternal life, but, rather, eternal death.

Belief in astrology, like belief in God, is just a superstition.
The main difference between the Bible and astrology is “all [100%] your [God’s] words [including the Bible] are truth” (Psalm 119:160 NIV), whereas astrology is nothing but “godless myths” (2 Timothy 4:7 NIV).
