Greece displays ‘7,000-year-old archaeological enigma’

“The figure was carved from granite in an era when there were no metal tools available”

BBC News posted an article on February 14, 2017 entitled: “Greece displays ‘7,000-year-old archaeological enigma.'” The article says the carved object is “7,000 years old, prior to the time that humans had developed metal tools”. Scientists have postulated that it took thousands of years of human evolution for humans to begin working with tools.

Too bad they ignore the Bible, because, instead it taking “thousands of years of human evolution for humans to begin working with tools,”  the Bible accurately reports that within the first eight generations of human existence, which was at least 5,000 years ago (or, at least 6,000 years ago according to the ages listed in the Septuagint in Genesis 5 & 11),  humans had developed metal tools. (Genesis 4:1; Gen 4:17-22 NJB) Tubal-cain, the Bible reports, “was the ancestor of all who work copper and iron.” This would demystify scientists’ “enigma.” read more

As God asked Job 3,500 years ago: “Have you grasped the celestial laws?” (Job 38:33 NJB)

We know much more today than Job did then, but our answer would also be: “not really.”

However, the Bible does enlighten us far beyond science, although we appreciate good science.

“Yahweh, my God, how great you are! … You stretch out the heaven like a tent.” (Psalm 104:1-2 NJB) read more

Can God the Father Be the Only Almighty?

Can God the Father Be the Only Almighty?

Is it possible that God the Father is the only one who is Almighty, and his Son, Jesus Christ and the holy Spirit are not Almighty?

“The Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty, and the Holy Spirit Almighty. And yet there are not three Almighties, but one Almighty”—Athanasian Creed

The Trinity doctrine asserts that the three Trinitarian beings “are co-equal and co-eternal.” Let’s examine what the Bible says about Almighty God.

The Bible uses the term Almighty many times to describe Yahweh, the Creator, and Father of Jesus, beginning at Genesis 17:1: “Abram is a son on ninety-nine years, and YHWH appears to Abram, and says to him, ‘I [am] God Almighty'” (LSV). Yahweh is thus said to be “God Almighty.” read more

Scientists find ‘oldest human ancestor’

How countless are Your works, Lord!
In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your creatures.
Here is the sea, vast and wide,
teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small.
(Psalm 104:24-25)

On January 30, 2017, BBC News published an article entitled “Scientists find ‘oldest human ancestor,'” which suggests that humans evolved from other life forms.

Notice how many times conjectural words such as “thought to,” “probably,” “may,” “we think,” “suggests,” “conclude,” and “might” appear in this short article. read more

From relief to regret: Readers’ experiences of abortion

From relief to regret: Readers’ experiences of abortion

On January 30, 2017, BBC News published an article entitled “From relief to regret: Readers’ experiences of abortion.” The article can be found here: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-38775641

Notice the high percentage of women who express regret and remorse over having had an abortion. Also, note the high percentage of those who view the unborn child as a human person, rather than a piece of tissue. A basic sense of right and wrong is programmed into each human by God. “I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts” (Hebrews 8:10 NIV). This is more or less true to an extent even among those who are not Christians. Of course, it is also true that the “consciences [of many people] have been seared as with a hot iron” (1 Timothy 4:2 NIV) after people begin to violate them over time. read more

Priesthood of the Believer

Priesthood of the Believer

Is the Bible reliable?
What is the priesthood of the believer??

Do people have approach to God only through a clergy class, priests, an organization, a certain denomination, or is approach to God directly through Jesus Christ, and him alone? What is the priesthood of the believer?

“We do not write you anything you cannot read or understand”—2 Corinthians 1:13 NIV

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved . . . who correctly handles the word of truth”—2 Timothy 2:15 NIV

“The New Testament knows no spiritual aristocracy or nobility, but calls all believers ‘saints,’ though many fell far short of their vocation. Nor does it recognize a special priesthood in distinction from the people, as mediating between God and the laity. It knows only one high-priest, Jesus Christ, and clearly teaches the universal priesthood, as well as universal kingship, of believers”—Schaff’s History of the Christian Church, page 124 read more
