Is the Trinity in the book of Philemon?

short New Testament book of only 25 verses, Jesus Christ is specifically mentioned eight times, God two times, and the holy Spirit is not mentioned at all. In such a brief letter, only so much can be discussed, of course, so the holy Spirit’s omission is not surprising. This is especially so when we consider that the letter’s subject matter is not primarily doctrinal, but, instead, focuses on the relationship of the wealthy Christian Philemon with his runaway slave Onesimus, whom the apostle Paul in Rome has recently converted to Christianity, and is sending him back to Philemon in Colossae with this letter, appealing to Philemon to do the right thing (Philemon 1:10-21). read more

Was Jesus Predicted in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

Was Jesus Predicted in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

Was Jesus Christ being born in Bethlehem, foretold, or predicted, in advance? Many of the Dead Sea Scrolls have been accurately dated to before Jesus was born.

“Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms”—Luke 24:44 NIV

Critics claim that Jesus was just an ordinary man, and that predictive prophecy is impossible, and therefore deny that Jesus fulfilled any Old Testament prophecies. Since there are so many prophecies that Jesus actually fulfilled, critics resort to claiming that the prophecies in the Old Testament were written after the fact, so as to conform to what happened to Jesus, and also that the New Testament recordings of these fulfillments are frauds, that is, written to conform to Old Testament predictions.  read more

HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN GOD?

HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN GOD?

    Has Anyone Seen God??

Some people today say they have seen God. Preachers teach that people in the Bible saw God. Is this true? What does the Bible say?

“The Son is the image of the invisible God”—Colossians 1:15 NIV

“To the King eternal, immortal, invisible“—1 Timothy 1:17 NIV

The Bible says that Almighty God is invisible. What is invisible cannot be seen by human eyes. He has always been “invisible”.  “I, Yahweh, do not change” (Malachi 3:6 NJB)

“Yahweh said, ‘ . . . no human being can see me and survive.”—Exodus 33:20 NJB read more

WAS JESUS’ CONCEPTION A MORAL EVENT?

WAS JESUS’ CONCEPTION A MORAL EVENT?

The two biblical accounts that deal with Jesus’ conception (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35), both present it as moral in every sense of the word. There have been a few who, without any Biblical evidence, have claimed otherwise.

“God sent the angel Gabriel . . . to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph . . . The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.’  Mary was greatly troubled at this and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and be called the Son of the Most High . . . ‘ ‘How will this be,’ Mary asked the angel, ‘since I am a virgin? The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God'” (Luke 1:26-35 NIV). read more

WAS MARY A TEENAGER WHEN JESUS WAS CONCEIVED?

WAS MARY A TEENAGER WHEN JESUS WAS CONCEIVED?

“When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law”—Galatians 4:4 NIV

While some pastors, Bible teachers, and even “scholars”, claim that Mary was a teenager when Jesus was conceived, the Bible does not give Mary’s age. Contrary to the claims that she was only teenager, the Bible says she was “a woman”

In the two Biblical accounts that deal with Jesus’ miraculous conception, Mary’s age is never mentioned (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35). No clue is given as to her approximate age at that time.  read more

WHO IS “THE MAJESTY IN HEAVEN”?

WHO IS “THE MAJESTY IN HEAVEN”?

Is the Bible reliable?
Who is “the Majesty” in the Bible?

Who is the “Majesty in heaven,” according to the Bible, God or Jesus?

“To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord”—Jude 25 NIV

There is a popular song that is frequently sung in evangelical churches and groups called “Majesty” that calls Jesus Christ “Majesty”. There are two scriptures in the Bible that refer to “the Majesty in heaven”. Let’s look at them:

“The Son . . . After he had provided purification for our sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven”—Hebrews 1:3 NIV read more

IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE OF A TRINITY IN REVELATION 17-22?

IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE OF A TRINITY IN REVELATION 17-22?

Let’s look at the evidence to see if the Trinity doctrine is in Revelation chapters 17-22. The word “trinity” is never mentioned, just as it is never mentioned anywhere else in the Bible, and God, Jesus, and the holy Spirit are never mentioned in the same verse or even in the same context, in these chapters. So, let’s examine the evidence that we do find in these chapters, and see where it leads us!

“The Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings”—Revelation 17:14 NIV . Trinitarians claim that Jesus’ titles here, “Lord of lords and King of kings,” mean that he is Almighty God, because Almighty God also has these same titles. However, their claim is undercut by scriptural evidence from Ezra 7:12 where “Artaxerxes” is identified as “king of kings” (NIV), and by Daniel 2:37 where “Nebuchadnezzar” (Daniel 2:1),is also identified as “the king of kings” (NIV). Even more powerfully, “the Lamb”, who is Jesus Christ, is identified as “the Lord of lords and King of kings”(NIV). The “Lamb” was “slain” (Revelation 5:6 NIV), and Jesus said he “was dead” (Revelation 1:18 NIV). Since the Scriptures tell us that “God . . . will never die” (Habakkuk 1:12 NIV), Jesus Christ cannot be Almighty God! read more

ARE THE SOVEREIGN LORD AND THE LAMB PART OF A TRINITY?–REVELATION 6-7

ARE THE SOVEREIGN LORD AND THE LAMB PART OF A TRINITY?–REVELATION 6-7

Revelation and the gospel of John are two of the most devastating books in the Bible to the false doctrine of the Trinity. Notice who allegorical Christians who have been executed for their faith are said to pray to:

“How long, Sovereign Lord . . . “—Revelation 6:10 NIV

They pray to “the Sovereign Lord,” not to “the Lamb,” Jesus Christ, nor to the Holy Spirit.

“Fall over us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of their wrath has come”—Revelation 6:16,17 NIV read more

“THE SACRIFICE OF THE BODY OF JESUS CHRIST”

“THE SACRIFICE OF THE BODY OF JESUS CHRIST”

Different resurrection appearances
Was Jesus’ body resurrected? What about the sacrifice of Jesus’ body?

We hear much about “the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ,” but very little about the sacrifice of Jesus’ body. Why? Out of 31,000 verses in the Bible, not one of them mentions a resurrection of Jesus’ body. But, how about the sacrifice of Jesus’ body?

“We have been made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time”—Hebrews 10:10 NIV

Most Christian churches and preachers claim that Jesus’ physical body was resurrected. However, the Bible, as we can see above, says that Jesus’ body was sacrificed. What does that mean? read more

IS THE TRINITY DOCTRINE TAUGHT IN JUDE?

IS THE TRINITY DOCTRINE TAUGHT IN JUDE?

The book of Jude was written by Jesus’ half brother Jude some three decades after the start of Christianity. At this stage, we would expects to find some mention of the doctrine of the Trinity, if it is true. But, just like the rest of the scriptures, there is no mention of a Trinity in Jude.

Jude 1—“To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Christ Jesus” (NIV). “God the Father” is obviously a completely separate and distinct person from “Christ Jesus”. If the Trinity doctrine were true, we would expect there to be some mention of it, or the holy Spirit (which is real), at this point, but there isn’t.

Jude 3 – “Fight hard for the faith, which has been once and for all entrusted to God’s holy people” (Jude 3 NJB). read more
